BEAUTY GENERATION (NZ) [125], CITY OF LIGHT (USA) [125] and WINX (AUS) [125] remain at the top of the second edition of the LONGINES World’s Best Racehorse Rankings for 2019, while several major performers from Dubai World Cup night have joined the latest rankings.

OLD PERSIAN (GB) [122] is the biggest mover in this month’s rankings and joins the top five after his victory in the Longines Dubai Sheema Classic (G1) over CHEVAL GRAND (JPN) [119]. He started his 2019 campaign with a win in the Dubai City of Gold Sponsored by Emirates SkyCargo (G2) earlier in March.

 

Sitting in the sixth position is THUNDER SNOW (IRE) [121], who made history by becoming the first horse to win the Dubai World Cup Sponsored by Emirates Airline (G1) twice.  This year, he defeated GRONKOWSKI (USA) [120] by a nose.

 

Equally ranked with Gronkowski is BLUE POINT (IRE) [120], who won the Al Quoz Sprint Sponsored by Azizi Developments (G1). Previously rated at 119, Blue Point won the Meydan Sprint Sponsored by Gulf News (G2) and Nad Al Sheba Turf Sprint Sponsored by Arabian Adventures (G3) earlier this season.

 

Additionally, ALMOND EYE (JPN) [119], Japan’s reigning Horse of the Year, made her seasonal debut a winning one in the Dubai Turf Sponsored by DP World (G1).

 

Meanwhile, in Japan, AL AIN (JPN) [119] won the Osaka Hai (G1), and in Australia, AVILIUS (GB) [119] notched two Group 1 victories a week apart by winning the Ranvet Stakes (G1) and Kia Tancred Stakes (G1).
