Black Caviar has been the top rated sprinter in the world for the past four years - a remarkable achievement. The seven-year-old super mare won three more Group 1 races from three attempts in 2013, and brought the curtain down on her glittering career with an emphatic three length victory in the T.J. Smith Stakes (G1) at Randwick in April, in the process extending her perfect record to 25 straight wins.

Three-year-old Treve wasn't born until after Black Caviar had recorded her first five wins, but she has shown herself to be an exceptional filly in a short space of time. She is unbeaten in her five races to date, the last three of which have been Group 1s, and stamped herself a truly top class racehorse when slamming her rivals by five lengths in the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (G1) at Longchamp in October.

Wise Dan has won eleven Group races in the past two seasons - seven of them at the highest level - and has proved himself to be both a highly versatile and a highly talented performer, having put up top-flight displays on turf, on dirt and on an artificial surface. For the second successive season, he rounded off his campaign with victory in the Breeders' Cup Mile (G1) at Santa Anita in November, this time beating ZA APPROVAL (USA) [120], who had also chased Wise Dan home in the Ricoh Woodbine Mile (G1) at Woodbine in September.

The Breeders' Cup Classic (G1) produced a thrilling finish, which saw MUCHO MACHO MAN (USA) [125] edge out WILL TAKE CHARGE (USA) [124] and DECLARATION OF WAR (USA) [124]. That effort took Mucho Macho Man to the top of the dirt standings alongside GAME ON DUDE (USA) [125], who was below his best in the Classic, but who had shown his true ability on the surface when the seven and three-quarter length winner of the Santa Anita Handicap (G1) over the same course and distance in March. Will Take Charge's excellent effort was the best performance by a three-year-old on dirt so far this year.

Also at Santa Anita, MAGICIAN (IRE) [124] put up his best performance yet when taking the Breeders' Cup Turf (G1) from THE FUGUE (GB) [123] and INDY POINT (ARG) [121], while BEHOLDER (USA) [121] became the highest ranked three-year-old filly on dirt in 2013 with her four and a quarter length triumph in the Breeders' Cup Distaff (G1).

In Europe, OLYMPIC GLORY (IRE) [125] took the Queen Elizabeth II (sponsored by Qipco) (G1) at Ascot in decisive style, while FARHH (GB) [124] rounded off his career by holding off CIRRUS DES AIGLES (FR) [123] and RULER OF THE WORLD (IRE) [122] in the Qipco Champion Stakes at the same meeting.

JUST A WAY (JPN) [123] trounced his rivals by four lengths in the Tenno Sho (Autumn) (G1) in Tokyo, and he is now the third highest rated horse in Japan this season, behind only ORFEVRE (JPN) [125] and GOLD SHIP (JPN) [124].
