Curlin (USA)(130) and Duke of Marmalade (IRE)(127) have retained their status of Top Dirt and Turf Horse in the world respectively following  their  victories in the Woodward Stakes (G1) and the Juddmonte International (G1)

  in the latest edition of the World’s Leading Horses, compiled by the panel of handicappers/racing secretaries affiliated to the IFHA (International Federation of Horseracing Authorities).

Curlin (USA)(130) retains his position as top Dirt racehorse in the world following his recent victory in the Jockey Club Gold Cup (G1) but Zarkava (IRE)(127) has joined Duke of Marmalade (IRE)(127) as joint top Turf horse in the latest edition of the World’s Leading Horses, an official listing of the top 50 racehorses in the World as compiled by a panel of handicappers/racing secretaries affiliated to the IFHA (International Federation of Horseracing Authorities).  

The unbeaten French three year old filly Zarkava (IRE)(127) was a very impressive winner of the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe (G1) and becomes the highest rated filly/mare since Bosra Sham(USA) back in 1996/1997 . Among the horses she vanquished in Paris, Youmzain (IRE)(125), Soldier of Fortune (IRE)(124) improved slightly their high rankings while German three year old colt It’s Gino (GER)(124) put up a career best performance in dead heating for third place.

Raven’s Pass (USA) (126) toppled Henrythenavigator (USA)(124) as the top ranked Turf Miler in the World when defeating the latter in the Queen Elizabeth 11 Stakes (Sponsored by Sony ) (G1) while Paco Boy (IRE)(124) put up a career best effort in this category in impressively winning the Total Prix de la Foret (G1) .

Among the staying ranks, Septimus (IRE)(122) joined Yeats (IRE)(122) as top stayer  in the World with a convincing romp in the Irish Field Irish St Leger (G1) while Conduit (IRE)(120) tops this category among the three year olds following his career best effort in winning the Ladbrokes St Leger (G1).

Weekend Hussler (AUS)(122) resumed his Group 1 winning ways recently when defeating Pompeii Ruler (Aus) (119) in the Underwood Stakes (G1) while in the United States a number of recent winners served a notice of intent with regard to the forthcoming Breeders Cup races most notably Zenyatta (USA)(120) and Grand Couturier (GB)(119) in winning the Lady’s Secret (G1) and the Joe Hirsch Turf Classic Invitational (G1) respectively.

The World's Leading Horses are compiled by the World Rankings Supervisory Committee and published by the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities (IFHA).  The next World's Leading Horses listing will be released on 30th October 2008
