WORLD'S LEADING HORSES

(from 1st October 2005 to 31st March 2006)

 

HURRICANE RUN (IRE) [130T], the winner of the 2005 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe Lucien Barriere, continues to head the World's Leading Horses, the latest edition of which has just been published, covering the racing period from 1st October 2005 to 31st March 2006.


SHIROCCO (GER) [125T], who won the John Deere Breeders' Cup Turf, moves into second position, just in front of ELECTROCUTIONIST (USA) [124D], who is undefeated on dirt after his powerful victory in the G1 Emirates Airline Dubai World Cup.

 

The Dubai World Cup meeting produced several other impressive victories, notably DAVID JUNIOR (USA) [123T] in the Dubai Duty Free and HEART'S CRY (JPN) [123T] in the Nakheel Dubai Sheema Classic. These two now share fourth spot in the Rankings with the Sprinters Stakes victor SILENT WITNESS (AUS) [123T].

 

Other horses to improve their ranking after running in Dubai were BRASS HAT (USA) [121D] (now ranked 12th), runner up in the Emirates Airline Dubai World Cup, DISCREET CAT (USA) [118D] (20th), winner of the S&M Al Naboodah Group UAE Derby and UTOPIA (JPN) [116D] (38th), who was an impressive winner of the Jebel Ali International Hotels Godolphin Mile on dirt.

 

Japan's dirt champion KANE HEKILI (JPN) [118D], winner of the February Stakes, enters at number 20, along with the top ranked Australian sprinter TAKEOVER TARGET (AUS) [118T], who won the G1 Seppelt Wines Newmarket Handicap. In total five Australian Group One winners make the list, including Motorola Mackinnon winner LAD OF THE MANOR (NZ) [117T] and recent Ranvet-Rawson Stakes winner EREMEIN (AUS) [116T].

 

Horses that have been retired from racing, but who ran in the qualifying period, have not been included in this listing, but their previous Rankings can be found in the past editions on the IFHA web site, www.IFHAOnline.org
