Mainland China to re-introduce horseracing

The central Chinese government is reported to have given permission for the opening up of a racecourse in the central city of Wuhan. The opening up of the racecourse comes with the permission to wager, which is necessary to support the economics of racing.

Today, horseracing is only allowed in Hong Kong. Previous attempts to introduce horseracing on mainland China have failed due to prohibition of wagering. Wuhan's racecourse is expected to open after the Beijing Olympics.
