Sports betting to be allowed in Delaware

The US state Delaware is planning to allow sports betting. The ability to offer sports betting is only catered for in four US states and the state's government sees the actual permission of betting as an opportunity to create more tax income.

In addition to increasing the possibilities to offer sports betting, Delaware will also increase the number of casinos and raise the tax rate for the state's existing casino-racetracks. The latter are concerned about the rate increase and the possible oversupply of gambling opportunities.

On the other hand, the race tracks would be allowed to sell a new type of lottery tickets and share in the revenue.
